Department of Professional Studies

In the Department of Professional Studies at the Modern Conservatory of Athens, students are provided with the opportunity to acquire:

• A high level of musical proficiency and technical skills on their chosen instrument

• Aural skills and a comprehensive understanding of basic music theory and harmony

• Rich musical experience through their participation in ensembles

Subjects Taught:

• Instrument of choice (individual lesson – 45′ / week)

• Theory / Solfège / Harmony (group lesson – 60′ / week)

• Ensemble (group lesson – 60′ / week)

Prerequisites for Participation:

• Attendance is mandatory for all three subjects.

• Ensemble participants must already be students at the Conservatory studying the corresponding instrument.

Department Structure:

• INSTRUMENT OF CHOICE: 4 levels with annual promotional exams.

• THEORY: 4 levels with annual promotional exams.

• ENSEMBLES: 4 levels with two concerts/performances per year.

Duration of Studies: The duration of studies in the Department of Professional Studies is 4 years. Upon completion of the program, a Certificate of Completion is awarded.
