Mislav Režić is one of the most distinguished Croatian guitarists, with an international career both as a soloist and as a chamber music performer.
He has given solo concerts in various venues around Europe, in cities such as Amsterdam, Athens, Berlin, Brussels, Copenhagen, Rome, Zagreb, etc.
His interest in a wide musical repertoire, as well as his ability to play both period and contemporary instruments, has led him to collaborate with a variety of ensembles and musicians. He is a founding member of Ensemble Machetes based in the Netherlands and the ensemble Tetttix in Greece, specializing in contemporary music. He has performed with the ensemble Ergon, but also with soloists of various instruments and singers. His special interest in contemporary music and new trends in composition has led him to commission new works and first performances of works for guitar, such as those by Vlado Sunko, Sophia Avramidou and Nikoleta Hatzopoulou, which are dedicated to him.
He studied in Croatia and the Netherlands, from where he graduated with two Master’s degrees, first from the Royal Conservatory of The Hague and then from the University of Maastricht.
He has won several national competitions in Croatia and two international music awards (international guitar competitions in Zwolle 2002 and Enschede 2007), and in 2003 he was awarded the annual music prize by the Croatian Artists Association in 2003.
In addition to teaching in Athens, Mislav Režić leads an extremely popular guitar class at the international summer seminar held in Kastela, Croatia, and since the summer of 2017 he has been the artistic director of the music festival “Glazbene večeri kod sv. Jeronima”.
His new record AUBURN with contemporary music for solo guitar was released in January 2017 by DNA Label Records.
