Panagiotis Skyftas was born in Thessaloniki in 1990. He started his musical studies playing the piano from the age of 7.
After a long career in private music education he managed to obtain the degrees of Harmony, Counterpoint, Fugue and Piano Diploma from the Philip Nakas Conservatory.
In 2008 he entered the University of Macedonia at the Department of Music Science and Art where he majored in saxophone. In 2012 she participated in the 1st Panhellenic-Pancyprian saxophone competition and received the first prize. Also, in 2013 he participated in the concert competition “May Music Metaxis” at the University of Macedonia, in which he was ranked second and as part of the prize he performed in January 2014 with the University orchestra at the Thessaloniki Concert Hall.
After completing his studies, he served his military service at the Army Music Corps in Kozani (2013-2014). Afterwards, for 1 year he worked as a substitute saxophone teacher at the Music School of Serres. During the academic years 2015-16 and 2016-17, Panagiotis was in the USA where he attended as a Fulbright Foundation scholar a postgraduate program specializing in saxophone at the University of Columbia, Missouri. He was awarded an additional scholarship from the Sinquefield Charitable Foundation based in Saint Louis and performed with the university’s Mizzou New Music Ensemble. In addition, in the USA he has participated in room music competitions (MTNA).
After completing his Master’s degree, Panagiotis returned to Greece, and from September 2017 until today he continues to teach saxophone at the Music School of Serres.
