He was born on Chios island, Greece, and lived there through his school years. When his was eighteen he moved to Athens where he started his formal music studies. He studied drum set and music theory, for five years, at the “Central Conservatory of Athens” with George Stinis and Kostas Klavas respectively. During the same period, he studied Economics at the “American College of Greece”.
At the beginning of his drumming career, he played with different pop and rock n’ roll bands. However, later during his military service, he played mostly popular and traditional Greek music. In the early nineties, he returned to Athens and studied traditional Greek percussion and rhythms for one year. Afterwards, he moved to Los Angeles, USA, where he studied drum set and Afro American percussion at the “Grove School of Music” and at the “Musicians’ Institute of Technology” for two years .In Los Angeles he had the opportunity to study with great musicians and educators such as: Peter Donald, Emil Richards, Ralf Humphrey , Chuck Silverman, Efrain Toro, Maria Martinez, Richie Gajate Garcia to name a few. Coming back to Athens he pursued a performing and teaching career. Between 2000 and 2008, he studied classical percussion with the percussionist of the National Opera of Greece, Konstantinos Vorisis.
In his professional career he has collaborated with many composers and singers of the contemporary music scene in Greece as well as with several jazz, rock and latin bands. Currently, he teaches drum set and percussion at the “Contemporary Conservatory of Athens” and at the “Musical Praxis Conservatory” where he also directs the percussion ensemble. He teaches at clinics and summer seminars as well.
Recently, he enjoyed a very creative collaboration with the “Athens Music Hall”, since he had been performing for three years at the children’s play Jules Verne’s “Around the World in eighty days”.
