Traditional and Folk music
The art of singing and its modes are taught. The repertoire starts from the traditional – Smyrna – rebetiko and reaches to the artful folk of today.
Voice placement, exercises for voice extension, articulation, the way each type of song is sung, the historical and social context of each genre, differences between composers and singers of each era, and performance are taught.
In order to obtain a degree, the student is required to take the following courses: Traditional Theory, Solfege, Traditional Harmony, Participation in instrumental ensembles, Prima-vista, Piano.
The course of study is completed in 4 academic years.
The course is individual and lasts 50 minutes per week.
