Papazoglou Sophia – Traditional Singing

Sophia Papazoglou began her singing career by utilizing the strong memories of traditional and folk songs that she had engraved from her childhood.

She studied voice at the Contemporary Conservatory of Athens with Medea Iasonidou. She graduated from the Pedagogical Department of Primary Education of the Aristotle University of Thessaloniki.

Her professional involvement with singing began in 1995, when the composer Nikos Mamagakis, impressed by her vocal abilities, entrusted her with the interpretation of the songs of the cycle “Sigh Anatolitis” (LYRA, 1996).

Apart from her personal discography, she has also participated in many other Greek recordings.

Sophia Papazoglou, apart from her solo performances in Greece and abroad, has collaborated on stage with composers and songwriters including Yannis Markopoulos, Nikos Mamagakis, Manolis Rasoulis, Evanthia Reboutsika, Panagiotis Kalantzopoulos, George Zikas, Orpheus Peridis, Pantelis Thalassinos, Christos Tsiamoulis, Christos Nikolopoulos, Alkino Ioannidis, Christos Leontis, Stelios Vamvakaris, Lina Nikolakopoulou and Dionysis Savvopoulos.

He also collaborated with singers such as: Eleftheria Arvanitaki, Gerasimos Andreatos, Manolis Mitsias, Kostas Makedonas, Yannis Kotsiras, Glykeria, Eleni Vitali, Dimitris Basis, Katerina Kouka, Lakis Chalkias, Vassilis Papakonstantinou, Giorgos Dalaras, Yannis Parios, etc.

Since the summer of 2010 he has been working permanently with the Mikis Theodorakis Orchestra, performing the songs of the great Greek composer in concerts all over Greece and abroad.

In the summer of 2019 she participated in the successful theatrical performance “Loxandra” by Maria Iordanidou in the role of the singer Eftalia, giving 55 performances throughout Greece.

Sophia Papazoglou has toured with her orchestra and in collaboration with well-known Greek singers in Greece, Cyprus, Turkey, USA, Israel, Palestine, Egypt, Britain, France, Germany, Austria, Holland, Belgium, Australia, Spain, Sweden, Finland and has performed in historic and important venues in Greece and abroad.
